Mall Gardens, Clifton, Bristol
Mall Gardens, Clifton, Bristol
They were originally private gardens for residents of the terraces on each side, begun in the late 18th century: Caledonia Place to the south, left, and West Mall to the north, right. The view is west from The Mall. The gardens fell into disrepair during and after the Great War landlords and gardeners were fighting or fallen. In time they came into the care of Bristol City Council as public gardens. The yellow-flowered spike is a variety of mullein (Verbascum); the white flowers are Ox-eye Daisies.
