Weathervane on the Market cross
The two bullet holes are said to have been the result of a bet between two local marksmen in 1804, standing on the steps of the "Turk's Head" pub one hundred metres down the hill. See Link (Archive Link )
On this site www.barnardcastlelife.co.uk it's called the Market Cross. Very interesting images and text. I thoroughly enjoyed looking around. Cheers, Dave
