The church has had the roof stripped of its lead by thieves on two occasions. The first occasion was on the May Day bank holiday 2016 and the second was on the May Day bank holiday 2017 when they took what they had left the previous year. Fortunately the lead hadn't been replaced in the meantime. The roof is now being replaced with lightweight steel sheets which have little value to the thieves but still cost £40,000 to install.
