This is the ex Hawes station which opened on the 1st October 1878 as a branch line from Garsdale. The improvements made to the nearby Gayle Mill are also dated to 1878 showing the area benefited from the new transport links. The station closed in the 1964 and is now part of the Dales Country museum. The station building itself is now a bike shop and cafe.

To the left the nationary lottery building works is related to the rebuilding of the former ore crushing waterwheel from Earby mining Museum which closed in 2015. Sections of the wheel are on site. SD9046 : Yorkshire Dales mining museum, Earby.

The locomotive is a 67345 which is on static display. This Robert Stephenson and Hawthorns locomotive is relativly young, having been built in 1955.
