Saltburn Pier
Saltburn Pier
Viewed from the Marine Parade at the top of the cliff. The pier was opened in 1869 and was originally 457 metres long. Over the years, various disasters have resulted in the length being reduced to the present length of 206 metres. Nevertheless it has the distinction of being the only surviving pleasure pier on the north-east coast. The building on the nearside - almost hidden by the cliff - is the cliff foot station of the cliff tramway.
