Shepherd Market
Shepherd Market
This is in the heart of Mayfair. The pub on the right with the blue walls is Ye Grapes. The alleyway to its left leads through to Curzon Street.

Shepherd Market is named after Edward Shepherd, the architect and builder responsible for many of Mayfair's properties. He wanted to provide local shops where households could buy their everyday staples such as bread, milk and meat. In 1735 he erected a market building on the site where the annual Mayfair which gave its name to the area had previously been held.
