A new musical, Tiger Bay, is being staged at the Millennium Centre.
Tiger Bay was the local name for an area of Cardiff next to Cardiff Docks Link.
Tiger Bay was also the title of a 1959 British crime drama film starring John and Haley Mills.
Wikipedia states “It features many authentic scenes of the children's street culture and the black street culture of the time, along with many dockside shots and scenes in real pubs and the surrounding countryside".
The singer Shirley Bassey was a resident of this area.
It is on the Wales Coast Path.
Arts centre in Roald Dahl Plass, Cardiff Bay, designed by Jonathan Adams, opened in two phases in 2004 and 2009. The design and construction reflects the different parts of Wales and the materials that dominate its history ... the huge bronze coloured dome is made from sheet steel coated with copper oxide and the different coloured slate layers come from different parts of Wales. The Wales Coast Path (Welsh: Llwybr Arfordir Cymru) is a long distance footpath which follows the whole of the coastline of Wales. It opened on 5 May 2012, and offers a 870 mile long route from Chepstow in the south to Queensferry in the north.
Wales is the first country in the world to provide a dedicated footpath along its entire coastline. The Path runs through eleven National Nature Reserves and other nature reserves, including those managed by The Wildlife Trusts or Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB).
