Disused mill near Calton Lees
Disused mill near Calton Lees
Looking north to a disused and derelict mill building with the Derwent weir on the right which once powered it. This corn mill was built in 1760 but ceased operation around 1950. It also provided the Chatsworth estate with a water-powered saw mill but revenge took place when the mill was badly damaged by a falling tree during a storm in 1962. Remnants of the water wheel can still be seen at the back of the building.
