Resurfaced Wharfe Bridge
Resurfaced Wharfe Bridge
Looking across the Wharfe Bridge which has recently been repaired and will soon form part of an extension to Sustrans Route 665. The work was carried out as part of the planning agreement with Redrow with their Southbank housing development being across the river. The housing development includes a cycle path running from the bridge to meet the A659. There are longer term plans to then construct an off road route between the end of this extension and Tadcaster, potentially including the use of the viaduct in Tadcaster.

The section behind the camera to meet the current terminus of route 665 in Thorpe Arch requires construction still, although this should only be a case of clearing vegetation and surfacing.

Route 665 now runs from Wetherby where it meets route 67 to Leeds and Spofforth and to Tadcaster to meet route 66 which heads on road to York, or 665 continues also to York beside the A64.
