Yorkshire Air Museum
This shows the control tower of this second world war airfield that later had the runway lengthened to accommodate US bombers carrying the nuclear deterrent. However, the advent of the submarine launched Polaris meant that the airfield was never commissioned for this purpose and was used to test the prototype Buccaneer and also by the RAF to practice landings and circuits. It closed in 1992 and was sold in 1999. It is now in part the base of the Yorkshire Air Museum.
