Canary Wharf station is in Canary Wharf on the Isle of Dogs. The station was built into the base of One Canada Square itself, between two parts of a shopping centre, it serves the Canary Wharf office complex. The station itself has six platforms serving three rail tracks and is sheltered by a distinctive elliptical glass roof.
The station is located on the DLR between Heron Quays station and West India Quay station. The station is shown on the Tube map as being within walking distance of Canary Wharf tube station; however, Heron Quays DLR station is indicated as closer by around 50 metres.
The station opened in 1991.
Canary Wharf is a major business district. It is one of London's two main financial centres – along with the traditional City of London – and contains many of the UK's tallest buildings, including the second-tallest, One Canada Square.
Around 90,000 people work in Canary Wharf and it is home to the world or European headquarters of numerous major banks, professional services firms and media organisations including Barclays, Citigroup, Clifford Chance, Credit Suisse, HSBC, J.P. Morgan, KPMG, Morgan Stanley and Reuters.

The Docklands Light Railway is an automated light metro or light rail system opened on 31 August 1987 to serve the redeveloped Docklands area of London. It covers several areas of London, reaching north to Stratford, south to Lewisham, west to Tower Gateway and Bank in the City of London financial district, and east to Beckton, London City Airport and Woolwich Arsenal. It has been extended several times and now has 40 stations and carries over 60 million passengers a year.
