Old Milestone by the B5302 in Wigton

Metal plate attached to stone post by the B5302 (was A596), in parish of WIGTON (ALLERDALE District), opposite Accrington Terrace, in front of St Cuthbert's Presbytery, in Presbytery wall, on North side of road. Carlisle red stone and curved plate, erected by the Cockermouth & Carlisle turnpike trust in the 19th century.

Inscription reads:-

COCKERMOUTH
15½ MILES
