For the 2017 Lightwaves festival, Quays Culture once again showcased a curated collection of tableaux from the Blackpool Illuminations as they had done in 2016. Each of the chosen works reflects a different theme of the MediaCityUK landscape. Sooty and his pals recognise the new broadcasting industry which has developed here that includes children’s television.

Quays Culture - Lightwaves
Lightwaves claims to be the UK’s largest free outdoor digital art light show. The annual festival, hosted by Quays Culture, showcases an eclectic programme of digital light art, taking over public spaces in Salford Quays and MediaCityUK each December. Each year, Lightwaves features new and exclusively commissioned digital art displays alongside tableaux borrowed from the Blackpool Illuminations.
