The old hall was said to be a magnificent double fronted Georgian mansion. Built by Thomas Jones of Llanlloddian in 1734 for his wife Margaret Cupper heiress to the Llantysilio Estate, it stood just below the present Victorian hall. It is said that above the door was carved in stone a coat of arms which included three severed horse heads (the coat of Brochwel Yscythrog Prince of Powys) LinkExternal link
