Hawthorn and snow, Twisleton Scar End
Hawthorns seem to be one of the few trees that can make a go of it up here where soils are poor and thin and sheep chew most things that show their heads above the parapets of the grikes. Any that do make it are contorted by the elements into twisted and gnarled shapes. Snow on the limestone just enhances the superbly bleak aspect of the scene.
