SD7176 : Cairn above Twisleton Scars

taken 1 year ago, near to Chapel-le-Dale, North Yorkshire, Great Britain

Cairn above Twisleton Scars
Cairn above Twisleton Scars
A large cairn on the edge of the unseen escarpments above Chapel-le-Dale. It's most likely a landmark for shepherds in poor weather as there are few points at which sheep can be safely moved down through the scars. The lowering sun is just starting to light up the gullied Black Shiver face of Ingleborough.
