The location is close to Broomy Hill Wood home to buzzards for many years. There is a related piece nearby NZ1266 : Sculpted tree trunk, Close House Golf Course

The sculptor, Dan Mcgee, told me that the eagle wascarved out of spalted beech (coloured by fungi) which started life as a 2 tonne butt from a tree felled near Haydon Bridge by-pass. He mounted the 300kg carved piece with pulleys by himself and attached it to the carved ripe cherry tree.
