The Old Drymen Road
The Old Drymen Road
It will have seen some farm traffic in recent decades, but, centuries ago, this route, made up of several intertwining strands, was a road to Drymen. The glen of the Spouts Burn is in the background.

It is from about this point that an old limestone industry track continues further to the NE, while the Old Drymen Road itself swings to the NNE; the annotated satellite map linked from the end-note shows this, with the Old Drymen Road marked in blue, and the limestone industry track in red.

For a view in the opposite direction, see NS4278 : The Old Drymen Road.

For more on this part of the old road, see the relevant section Link of the article linked from the end-note.
Network of old limestone industry tracks :: NS4379

A very extensive network of ancient tracks on the moors in West Dunbartonshire links old quarries, ruined lime-kilns, and other sites connected with the local limestone-burning industry, which flourished in the 18th century. See Link for a Geograph article about the network, and LinkExternal link for an annotated satellite view of it.
