The Old Drymen Road
The Old Drymen Road
The old track, formed of several intertwining strands, will have seen some use by farm traffic in recent times, but it was, centuries earlier, a road from Drymen. In this picture, the view is towards the other end, Dumbarton.

Square Wood is ahead, along the line of the road, with the Clyde beyond it. On the left is the glen of the Spouts Burn, and, on the skyline behind that, Black Wood.

For a view in the opposite direction, see NS4278 : The Old Drymen Road.

For more on this part of the old road, see the relevant section Link of the article linked from the end-note.
Network of old limestone industry tracks :: NS4379

A very extensive network of ancient tracks on the moors in West Dunbartonshire links old quarries, ruined lime-kilns, and other sites connected with the local limestone-burning industry, which flourished in the 18th century. See Link for a Geograph article about the network, and LinkExternal link for an annotated satellite view of it.
