Wartime Bedroom, 9 Albert Parade
The Piermaster’s House, 9 Albert Parade, was originally built in the mid nineteenth century for the piermaster and his family. The piermaster was responsible for ensuring the safe passage of ships entering and leaving the dock at high tide. It is a Grade II listed building (List entry Number: 1205192 LinkExternal link Historic England)

The house was one of four built on this site, and was the only one left standing following the heavy bombings in the Second World War. In 2003, to complement the Spirit of the Blitz exhibition at Merseyside Maritime Museum, the Piermaster's House was transformed back into its World War II condition, with its taped-up windows, period furnishings and everyday objects like gas-masks and ration books reflecting the days of shortages and rationing.

The house forms part of the Merseyside maritime Museum and is open to the public (free of charge) every day between 10am and 4.30pm
