Restoration Gates, Trelowarren
Restoration Gates, Trelowarren
Pair of gate posts on the entrance drive to Trelowarren House, dating from 1660 and named the Restoration Gates as they were made to mark the restoration of the monarchy that year. They were originally situated in front of the house, but were moved to the Double Lodges at the entrance to the South Drive, on the St Keverne Road, around 1760 and then to their present position in the 1830s. The gates themselves are 19th Century.
