SK4531 : Valve House, Wilne Lane

taken 10 months ago, near to Sawley, Derbyshire, Great Britain

Valve House, Wilne Lane
Valve House, Wilne Lane
Built as part of the Derwent Valley Aqueduct, on the Leicester Pipe. One of the original valve houses, in the style specific to the initial building period. There is a later building LinkExternal link on the opposite side of the road, specifically lettered for Leicester Corporation Waterworks. It seems odd that this should be another valve house so close, but it could be a borehole pumping station.
