Eskdale Mill - part restored
Eskdale Mill - part restored
This is the gearing from the second wheel. A new main wheel shaft is apparent but the work has progressed no further. The pit wheel is not attached. The big lump of wood is the original oak bridge tree carrying a stone footstep bearing for the shaft that carried the runner stone. This is an old mill with wooden hurst framing. It was seen in a bit of a hurry and I would like to have spent longer examining the drives and relationship between some of the items of equipment.
