Leeds Industrial Museum - mill engine re-erection
Leeds Industrial Museum - mill engine re-erection
This horizontal tandem compound mill engine was installed in this former empty engine house by a team of volunteers led by Brian Kershaw and Duncan Lodge. There is still an awful lot left to do at this stage with the high-pressure cylinder loose at the back and much of the motion missing. I think the task of the day was fitting a cotter in the air pump rod. A very painstaking job with mechanic's blue and hand tools. The finished product is seen here - SE2734 : Mill Engine at Armley Mills.
