Ledrishmore Wood
Ledrishmore Wood
As the map shows, the area of woodland right of centre in the middle distance is just part of Ledrishmore Wood, the bulk of which is visible in the background.

Note, leading from the left-hand edge of the image, a line, dark with gorse, leading to the leftmost extremity of the nearer part of the wood. From this distance, I thought it had the appearance of an old track or road.

Indeed, the first-edition map (1860) does show a track or road following exactly that course. Subsequent maps (1898 and onwards) do not, but show only a field boundary there.

The view is from Stirling Road. The other side of the road, as seen from the same spot, also had points of interest: NS4083 : Field beside Stirling Road.
