Upstream section of Sgŵd y Pannwr at low water levels
The riverbed upstream of the waterfall can be seen on the left. At the centre is a long trench LinkExternal link which the river has carved out along a geological fault when in spate. At low water levels, such as seen here, this trench is almost dry and most of the river water follows the upper level riverbed to a large cascade LinkExternal link just behind the camera. The Four Waterfalls Walk is a popular destination for day trippers from south Wales and further afield.
