Northern Rail’s class 142 LinkExternal link Pacer DMU, 142041, pulls away from Hoscar Station, heading east.

Hoscar Railway Station is an unmanned station with its platforms staggered platforms either side of an automatic level crossing on Hoscar Moss Road. The station serves the rural village of Lathom, near the town of Burscough. It was originally built by the Manchester and Southport Railway and opened in 1871. The station now has no permanent buildings other than simple shelters and has no ticket machines so all tickets have to be purchased on the train or prior to travel. Step-free access is available to both platforms. Westbound trains run to Southport, eastbound to Wigan Wallgate, Manchester Victoria, Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport.
