Impington Windmill - looking into the cap
This shows the clasp arm brake wheel meshing with the wallower at the bottom. One of the wheels that centres the cap on the curb is seen top right. The block of wood bottom right is the brake.

The mill is a 2-storey, hexagonal white smock mill on a 3-storey brick base, with ogee cap. Built in 1776 on the base of a 17th century post mill and raised on the tower around 1850, with patent sails added. Being restored by the owner; sails fitted and working, 2007; original machinery awaiting refurbishment. There are four patent sails and winding is by fantail.
Impington Windmill
The mill comprises five storeys with two in the hexagonal white timber smock and three in the base. It was built on the site of an earlier post mill with the smock mill built in 1776 on the 17th century base. Around 1850 with the advent of the patent sail system the mill was raised to its current height. The original timber in the smock structure is a Baltic Spruce. The sails were fitted in 2007 though there is some work to be done to restore the internal machinery to working order. The mill sails were turned over by the wind for visitors during National Mills Weekend 2013.
