Lanercost Bridge
Lanercost Bridge
Crossing the River Irthing, Lanercost Bridge was built in the 1720s by four local stonemasons. It replaced earlier bridges, both on this site, and also further upstream, which were either washed away by floods or fell into disrepair. The "new" bridge can just be seen on the right.
