This shows the linkage that transmits drive through the windshaft to the sails to adjust the shutters in relation to wind speed. Above are the doors to the fan tail staging. The mill was being restored and the fan tail and sails were down.
Northfield or Shade Windmill
Formerly an eighteenth century drainage smock mill it was moved to the current site around 1834, elevated on a hexagonal brick base and converted to grind corn.
