Northfield windmill, Soham
A small hexagonal smock mill built originally as a fen drainage mill and moved here c1834 and mounted on a brick plinth as a corn mill. The mill was restored in the 1990s but had never worked due to curb distortion. The sails were removed in 2014 leaving the stocks as seen here. The fantail had been removed earlier. The mill will hopefully be restored over the coming years. The stored sails are seen in the foreground.
