Photo taken at about 8.47pm in late July, from the track which climbs from marsh level up to Alleyn's Hill Farm.

The Thames can be seen in the distance, as a narrow ribbon of water stretching right across the picture, with the Essex shore beyond. Nearer the camera, the pools originated as clay workings - with narrow baulks and islands remaining.
