The Priory, Micklegate
The Priory, Micklegate
Formerly called the Coach and Horses, this historic property consisted originally of four tenements out of a row of seven built for the nearby priory (hence the present name), and has elements dating from the 14th to 20th centuries. The remainder of the houses were demolished in 1961 and the pub was listed grade 2 in 1968 (list entry 1257297), partly for what is described as "one of the most complete crown post roofs to survive in York" and the attic walls, being original wattle and daub.
