Pitstone Mill - the meal floor
Pitstone Mill - the meal floor
This is the lower level of the buck or main body of this post mill. The wooden framing is seen round the three visible walls. The main post is the large vertical piece of timber in the middle. It is 17' long and continues down into the round house below. The meal spouts and the bins they discharge into are in the background. Near the top of the frame can be seen the great spur wheel and the governor drive mechanism. The staircase to the upper level is on the extreme right.
