The bronze statue on Dumbarton Road was erected in 1914, a gift of Provost Bayne to his adoptive town and unveiled by his daughter. The sculptor was Albert Hemstock Hodge. The Aberdeen granite pedestal was executed by Kirkpatrick Brothers of Manchester. The statue and four bronze panels in bas relief were cast by A B Burton of Thames Ditton. LinkExternal link

In the background on the right is a statue of Henry Campbell-Bannerman NS7993 : Henry Campbell-Bannerman (1836-1908) and on the left a statue of Rob Roy NS7993 : Rob Roy in Stirling.
