Welcome, Beast from the East
Welcome, Beast from the East
At the end of February 2018, much of Europe was blanketed in snow for several days as freezing winds from Siberia were carried across the continent from Siberia, bringing temperatures as low as -30C. The cold spell nicknamed "the Beast from the East" in the UK (also called the "Siberian bear" by the Dutch and "snow cannon" by Swedes) caused much disruption (and some fatalities). This view of former railway land, now landscaped, was taken after the first night’s snowfall in this area.
