Congestion at Glascote Locks near Tamorth, Staffordshire
There is a flight of two locks at Kettlebrook, known as Glascote Locks. Together they provide a rise of 13ft 8in (about 42 metres). At busy times, boaters can expect to wait hours rather than minutes, but today there is a queue of three (including me), so maybe 40 minutes. The working boat is "Whitby", dating from 1937-1938, restored in 2009.
The crew of "Stafford" are too slovenly to moor properly while they wait.
