Fred famously dug a 'pit' in his garden to a depth of about 20'. This was part of the Heritage Centre experience but was auctioned off on 17-3-18. The headgear was sold at £550 against an estimate of £400-£600. The large red 6 legged 'spider' was part of a system used by Fred in chimney work and known as the 'Sputnik'. This was lot number 387 and sold for £130 against an estimate of £80 - £120. The smaller four-legged version behind went for £85 against an estimate of £40 - £60.
