The northern end of a fishing pond
The northern end of a fishing pond
This photograph shows the embankment at the northern end of the larger of the two ponds in this south-eastern corner of the Grassmoor Country Park LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link ) . This pond was dug as part of the Grassmoor colliery workings and is now a fishing pond managed by the Williamthorpe Angling Club LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link ) .

The large green and white building behind the trees is part of the Temple Normanton Business Park and is built on the site of what was once a training colliery.

At the far end of the embankment (left of centre) a SK4167 : Drain feeds water into the pond from issues some 285m to the east. In the middle of the embankment brickwork is a grill that is the start of a culvert into which the pond water drains and is transported via a series of culverts and open water courses into Calow Brook.
