View from new sea wall to old sea wall, Wallasea Island
This is the sight seen immediately after climbing the sea wall from the RSPB car park. The Crossrail / RSPB 're-wilding' project along this Crouch shore involved straightening the sea wall by joining the inmost points of the principal bays with a new, straighter sea wall and breaching the old sea wall at a number of places. So here we see nearest, new saltings (formerly dry land), the old borrow dyke, the old sea wall (greener), and finally old saltings in a former bay.
Across the river is Burnham-on-Crouch.
