Wind Farm at Heysham South
Heysham South wind farm is situated on agricultural land to the south of the A6383 and approximately 1km to the south east of Heysham itself. There are three turbines with a maximum tip height of 125m and an installed capacity of up to 7.5MW, enough to meet the annual power requirements of around 4200 homes (LinkExternal link Virtual Lancaster). Construction of the site began in August 2014 and all three turbines have been fully operational and generating electricity since April 2015 (LinkExternal link Banks Renewables).
