Palace Pier amusement dome, Brighton
Palace Pier amusement dome, Brighton
A large dome containing an amusement arcade and a children's soft play area.
This dome was originally built on Hastings Pier in 1966, operating as an exhibition space. It was later converted into a play area, and was removed in 1986.
On the palace Pier, this is the former site of the theatre, built shortly after the pier's opening in 1899. After being damaged by a boat collision in 1973, it was dismantled in 1986 by the Noble Organisation, owners since 1984. They promised that it would be rebuilt, but it never was.
