J0717 : First view of Northern Ireland

taken 7 years ago, near to Flurrybridge, Co Armagh, Northern Ireland

First view of Northern Ireland
First view of Northern Ireland
This array of direction signs are the first impression motorists get of Northern Ireland as they emerge from the N1 slip road at the border. If they turn to the right at this T-junction they will be heading back across the border and on to the R132 (Dublin Road). Faughill Mountain dominates the background. During the ethno-religious conflict known as The Troubles (1968-1998) a steel-walled observation fort occupied the top of the hill.
