Swan's nest behind The Woolpack, Stanground
This pen was jealously guarding five eggs in a nest which she had built on the boat moorings at the bottom of the beer garden behind The Woolpack, a traditional public house dating from 1711 located on North Street in Stanground. The moorings (which are reserved for use by customers of the pub only) are situated on the Back River, a tributary of the River Nene.
The swan was proving popular with the locals although - given their reputation - obviously no-one approached too closely and this image was taken with the aid of a zoom lens.
