Headingley: towards the end of the day
On a sunny and eventful first day, Yorkshire were bowled out for 256 and Nottinghamshire struggled to 53 for 4. With just a few overs remaining, the Notts batsman Riki Wessels defended a ball from Tim Bresnan. On the far side of the ground the Football Stand, which backs on to the Leeds Rugby League ground, is being rebuilt.

(Yorkshire 256 and 313, Nottinghamshire 188 and 238. Yorkshire won by 164 runs.)
