Twice a year a special parkrun is held with pacers endeavouring to finish in specific times to help other runners improve their times.
parkrun

parkrun organise weekly 5km timed runs around the world. They are open to everyone, are free, safe and easy to take part in. Most parkruns start at 0900 on Saturdays.

parkruns take place in parks and open spaces and enable people of every ability to take part: from those taking their first steps in running to Olympians; from juniors to those with more experience; for those seeking to lose weight or improve their fitness; all are welcome.

parkrun started with one event in 2004 and by February 2024 had grown to cover over 800 events in the UK attracting over 175,000 runners, joggers and walkers every week.
