SJ9470 : Medieval moat at Ridge Hall Farm

taken 9 months ago, near to Langley, Cheshire, Great Britain

Medieval moat at Ridge Hall Farm
Medieval moat at Ridge Hall Farm
This is the highest medieval moat in the county of Cheshire on around the 230 metre contour and the only one on a hillside. It is fairly complete - 3 sides of a rectangle - with partial standing water. Scheduled monument.

This is the north-western arm, which appears to have been partially cleared out, as this area is shown as an orchard on older OS maps.
