Track of Mineral Railway
Track of Mineral Railway
The sloping track is the bed of a railway used to bring iron ore down from No 1 Mine to the pier at East Suisnish. It now forms part of the Raasay path network, with a sign saying it is 7 kilometres to Dłn Caan by this route.
Ironstone Mining on Raasay

Between 1912 and 1916 iron ore was extracted from ironstones that outcrop in the southern part of the Isle of Raasay. Extensive ruins of the workings and associated buildings continue to disfigure the landscape of the island.
