Mineral Railway Track
Mineral Railway Track
The railway seems to lead straight to Dłn Caan, but appearances are deceptive; it goes only as far as Mine No 1. On the right the railway cuts through fossiliferous limestone beds of the Arnish Formation.
Ironstone Mining on Raasay

Between 1912 and 1916 iron ore was extracted from ironstones that outcrop in the southern part of the Isle of Raasay. Extensive ruins of the workings and associated buildings continue to disfigure the landscape of the island.
