Brook Farm Walk, Chelmsley Wood, east Birmingham
Probably planned in the late 1960s, the estate has a variety of dwelling types and many small greenspaces with trees that are now mature. The place feels like a reasonably spacious leafy suburb.
Chelmsley Wood, B37
Before the development of Chelmsley Wood it was Coleshill Heath, farmland east of Birmingham. Chelmsley Wood itself, centred on SP 1800 8700, was about 40 hectares of deciduous woodland, shown on OS maps up to 1955; scrub in 1965. The extensive new suburb or village first appears on a map of 1971. The wider area is sometimes referred to as North Solihull, and is undergoing some regeneration.
